Banner As Self

My banner is 4x5’ and consists of the word “EH”
. Both the text and the background are
canvas drop cloth dyed black with fabric dye. The text is sewn on the edges with black thread as
well there is a grid of white thread over the text stopping at the edges. The hard to read text is
purposeful as it is meant to make the viewer put effort into the piece. The piece also has been
degraded using a dremel and sandpaper. I did this to give the piece an organic feeling.
I chose the word “eh” to represent myself because I feel that it is simultaneously complex
and simple. Often when asked how I'm doing I respond “good”
. Why? I think “eh” is a much
more accurate description due to its uncertainty. I am never entirely sure about how I am doing
and I like that depending on the context “eh” could mean a range of emotions and things.
